Meet The Pumpernickel Parents
We're busy parents like you -- trying to maintain that ever-elusive "balance" between fulfilled and frazzled. Writer-parents who take an independent viewpoint that's sometimes humorous, maybe off-the-wall, perhaps a little edgy.

It's hard to find space in our lives for enjoying quality essentials like reading, music, and other entertainment. So we offer up reviews to help you sift quickly through the light, flaky stuff that leaves you hangin' and get to the goods that fill you and yours up with satisfaction.

This is who we are:

Tracy Morris, Editorial Coordinator Claudine Jalajas
After 15 years of big city social work, Tracy Morris retreated to her home office to do what she loves most -- being a mom and writing. Since 1997, she's performed editorially for the Internet, print magazines, newspapers, radio, and in marketing communications for healthcare providers and consumers.
You can find out more about Tracy at her profile sampler website.

Let Pumpernickel Parents know about review copies and samples of books, videos, audio, and products by emailing Tracy: tmorris at howtomakeafamily dot com
Reviews will be posted on HTMAF in our Things We Like (And Not So Much) section, and on Woodlands Online.

Claudine Jalajas is a noted technical communications consultant in the New York Metro area, having made guest appearances on cable television, radio, and internet cybercasts and being interviewed for articles on technology in Newsday, Long Island Business News, The New York Times, and Working Woman magazine. She's also a skilled essayist who managed to squeeze in an advanced degree in Creative Writing while chasing three children. Her writings have been featured in a number of online and print magazines. She lives with her family in Long Island, New York.

Heather Kaminski Lee Anna Loehrs
Heather Kaminski is currently a stay home mom of two. In her "past life" she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She has taught both in Public Schools as an Elementary Teacher and in classrooms for the Salvation Army working with severely behavioral disordered children. Previous to this she worked as an assistant therapist specializing in child sexual abuse.

Heather began writing in high school and upon graduation worked as a "Peter Parker" for a small town community newspaper. She still enjoys research and writing and is currently the editor and contributing writer for her church’s newsletter. Heather dreams some day of writing a book, but Harry Potter is already taken.

Lee Anna Loehr, M.S. (Statistics), M.A. (Mathematics), has logged 20 years working for biotechnology companies, specializing in regulatory oversight and clinical development.

She quit her ‘day job’ last December to care for and transition her daughter into the ‘real world’ of day care and has enjoyed this opportunity immensely. Her passions include consumer advocacy of all kinds, writing, photography and quilting.

Susan Powers Holly Case
Susan Powers is currently a stay-at-home poet with two elementary-aged children. In her dark and distant past, she earned a BA in French, a BBA in Finance, and an MBA in Entrepreneurship. She served time as a senior corporate executive in the oil and gas industry and as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. She also started her own business and then sold it two years later for a profit. Absolutely none of that experience has helped a whit in her current pursuit of art, music, poetry, and the Great American Novel. Well, maybe the having kids part. Susan is interested in how the world works, fiction, and chocolate. Holly Case is a freelance writer and editor living in Michigan with her husband and three young sons. She writes most often about natural living and health issues, and is the newsletter editor for Natural Food Network.
